PageSpinner is an HTML Editor for Macintosh. It supports both HTML 2.0, most parts of HTML 3.2 plus many Netscape extensions and is useful for both the beginner and the more advanced web author.
The editor gives you quick access to often used formatting and also supports help with an interactive AppleGuide and an HTML Assistant to help you create your own HTML pages.
You should also read the text file "Read Me FIRST!" inside the PageSpinner folder to find out about how to register.

Here is a list of some of the features that may not be so obvious.
In the Finder it is possible to drag and drop GIF- and JPEG files on the PageSpinner application icon (or onto an alias to the application). The HTML Assistant will open the Image Topic that will let you insert the image into a page.
Do you need to customize PageSpinner to start up with a special template page?
Create the page containing your contents and save it. Select the document in the Finder, use the "Get Info" menu item in the Finder menu and check the box Stationery Pad. You can then double click this file to open a new untitled page with your custom contents.
If you want PageSpinner to start up with this special page, select Preferences : Editor in PageSpinner's File menu, and select Do Nothing at Startup. Create an alias of the stationery file and open this file when you want to start up PageSpinner.
If you are using System 7.5 you can put aliases to several stationery pads in a folder and put that folder in the Apple Menu for quick access to the templates.
Do you need to a fast way to find the next location of a specific text you are seeing in the editor window? Select the text to find, use Command-E (to Enter selection to find) and then use Command-G (to Find Again).
If you want to start to search at the top of the file to find the text use:
Command-E, Command-Up Arrow, Command-G.
If you are using System 7.5 you can press Option and then drag selected text in the editor window and drop it somewhere else in the file to insert a copy of the selected text.
Does it takes a long time to read your Bookmark file?
If you are using a machine with PowerPC, installing SpeedDoubler will decrease the loading time up to ten times: a large Bookmark file that took 55-65 seconds without SpeedDoubler, loads under 6 seconds with SpeedDoubler.
How do I type a “typograpical” quote?
To be able to quickly type (or apply) a “typograpical” quote you can add a user definied tag in the User tag menu that consists of:
Start tag: “ End tag: ”Note that no < ... > should be entered. This quote is not built-in in PageSpinner since the characters used in a typograpical quote are different in different languages. See below on how to add a user tag in the User tag menu.
The character code for ’ is by the way ’ (and this could also be entered in a user defined tag).
Note that if you type the character ‘ ’ “ ” directly in the text these are only converted automatically if you save the file in the ISO Latin-1 format. If you use the ISO 8859-1 format you will need to manually change the characters to the approprate &#xxx; codes.
So, PageSpinner doesn't use any ISO Latin-1 entities such as Å - instead it translates the Mac character set to the best available characters that is represented in the ISO 8859-1 character set. If you are working in a file created in PageSpinner, you just need to type the character from the keyboard. By default PageSpinner will use the ISO 8859-1 character set.
You can change the default characters set for new documents in the menu item File:Preferences:Default Filing Options....
If you are using preformatted text <PRE>
you should set your file transfer application to add CR/LF after each line or optionally select to use Unix Line Feed in PageSpinner's Set Filing Options.... (This may not be necessary if you are using a MacOS based HTTP server).
Note that you may need to set the file transfer application to not automatically do conversion to ISO 8859-1. (Anarchie always seems to do this conversion before sending files, and there seems to be no way of setting this in the Preferences.)
This version of PageSpinner is WorldScript II-compliant. WorldScript input with e g Japanese input should work if the file is saved as Mac Text. Bidirectional scripts, like Arabic are not supported. More information about WorldScript can be found in the text file "About WorldScript".

Option Drag to make a copy of the selected text when editing text in a window.
Press Command when selecting an application in the Web Tools Menu to send the current document to be opened by the selected application. Press Option when selecting to view information about the application.
You can enter several nested tags in the dialog as well as tabs and returns.
If you have one long tag (or several tags) you would like to enter, you could create the text in a page or in the Notebook and copy the start tag(s) to the clipboard. In the dialog you are then able to paste the contents of the clipboard into the tag field (and manually enter the closing tag/tags).
If you really need to use more than the 18 available User Tags you can find information about adding more user tags in a PageSpinner TechNote.
Press the Option key when selecting a color name in the menu to define a new color value. It is not possible to change the name or the color displayed in the menu though.
